Lifetime Achievement

This award is for teachers, headteachers, principals and CEOs in schools, FE colleges and academy trusts, who must hold QTS and who have dedicated their life to the teaching profession and are reaching the end of their career.  These people will have had a significant and positive impact on the people they have worked with over the course of their teaching career, from pupils and colleagues to educational stakeholders and within their local community, and not only in their current schools but throughout their teaching career.  Their commitment to, and passion for, education is exemplary to all.

We’d love to read about your colleague’s long-term efforts, dedication, and sustained commitment to education, how they have had an impact on those they have taught, worked with, and inspired during their careers.

We recommend you write around 1000 words ensuring you address the key points shown below.

Who can enter?

This award is for teachers, headteachers, principals and CEOs in schools, FE colleges and academy trusts, who must hold QTS and who have dedicated their life to the teaching profession and are reaching the end of their career.  We welcome entries from state and independent schools, FE colleges and academy trusts in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Please note if your nominee will be retiring before April 2023 they are not eligible to be entered.

Key points to consider

To maximise your nominee’s chances of success. we recommend you address the points below when writing your entry.

  • Raising standards: The ways in which your colleague has worked to help raise the educational standard achieved by the students in their care, and how others have viewed these outcomes.
  • Life-long learning and development: The ways in which your colleague has maintained a commitment to their own professional development throughout their long career, ensuring they are always abreast of and use new, as well as tried and tested teaching methods in order to give their students the best education possible.
  • Inspiring others: The ways in which your colleague is a source of inspiration to their team.  How have they helped develop the expertise of others, and used their experience to engage with parents, other schools and the local community?
  • Legacy and lifetime achievement: What do you consider to be the major achievements of your colleague throughout their career with both peers and students they have taught? How they have enriched the lives of those in the school community? What is likely to be their legacy for education?
