Teams in FE institutions can shine as beacons for the delivery of teaching and learning opportunities that inspire and engage learners to achieve their full potential. A great team is made up of members who work together as model of good practice professionally to deliver great results with a strong improvement trajectory. A successful team is seen as a key asset to the institution, commanding respect and admiration within the institution’s teaching community, leadership team plus learners and parents.

We’d love to hear about a team you feel stands out and where it’s truly making a difference to the futures of the learners it impacts.

Who can enter?

This category is open to all teachers and lecturers working in further education establishments in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.  The teams can include teaching and non-teaching staff – there is no set number of individuals in any team and teams can work at a number of college clusters.

We welcome entries from state and independent FE colleges.

Points to cover

The following prompts might help to focus your thinking as you prepare your entry:

  • Team role and impact: The part the team plays when set in the context of the institution as a whole and how individuals within the team contribute to this; the ways in which their exceptional teamwork impact outcomes for their learners – what characterises this teamwork. What is the impact of this team’s work and its lasting effects?
  • Vision and goals: What did the team set out to achieve and where are they now, against their ambitions? Have the outcomes matched or exceeded their original objectives and what have the benefits been for the institution’s community and stakeholders? Tell us about any challenges the team have overcome to enable effectiveness and success?
  • Teaching and learning: The ways in which this team’s behaviours and actions improve the overall teaching and learning experience.
  • Inspiring and engaging others: Examples of how this team builds rapport with and engages others – What range of people and organisations are involved to achieve this team’s vision?
