Three teachers in Rickmansworth have been recognised for regional and national teaching awards.
Louise Cramp and Ashley la Grange of Rickmansworth School, Scots Hill, have both won silver Pearson Teaching Awards, for teacher of the year in a secondary school and lifetime achievement respectively, while Rafferty Gunn has been awarded the outstanding new teacher of the year certificate.
Mrs Cramp and Mr la Grange are two of 56 winners of their awards, who were honoured on June 16’s Thank a Teacher Day in a special assembly for Year 10 students.
Headteacher Keith Douglas said: “The staff deserve their awards; they work tirelessly to provide the best education for our students.
“Pearson Teaching Awards contacted me to say that Rickmansworth School received one of the highest number of nominations in the country and this is exceptional, it represents the students and community’s appreciation of what we do.
“I would like to thank the students and parents who have supported the staff and the school.”
The final award ceremony will be broadcast by the BBC and be attended by celebrities and dignitaries, with former award presenters including former prime ministers David Cameron and Tony Blair, Alison Steadman, Nadiya Hussein and Sheila Hancock.
