Sheldon has always held and articulated a clear coherent shared vision and strong moral purpose for St. Damian’s in Greater Manchester to be a fully inclusive ‘outstanding Catholic school’ uncompromising in the pursuit of excellence. Underpinning his work is Sheldon’s mantra ‘Believe to Achieve’.

Since 2012 he has worked relentlessly to take St Damian’s on a journey from ‘Special Measures’ to ‘Outstanding’. The impact of his inspirational leadership is clear: ‘a beacon of success’, [Ofsted 2017], a heavily over-subscribed, proud and vibrant learning community, record GCSE results, Progress 8 in the top quintile for disadvantaged pupil and a plethora of accolades including the Investors in People Gold Award and Inclusion Quality Mark.
