An Aylesbury teacher has found out she has got through to the last stages of a national award.

Cinzia Imbriano, from Green Ridge Primary Academy, was shortlisted as a finalist in the Pearson Teaching Awards for ‘Best New Teacher of the Year 2018’ last month.

She has now reached the final stages and is classified as a ‘Silver Winner’.

There were hundreds of entries and Miss Imbriano is one of five teachers selected from up and down the country.

The school surprised her with the news yesterday (25/06) in a school assembly.

We spoke to Headteacher Aaron Wanford, who told us what an amazing teacher she is:

“Our parents completely agree that she goes above and beyond to make sure each of our children are happy, they’re safe, they’re learning and that they love coming to school every day.

“She’s so adaptable with whatever goes on in school.

“She runs with ideas and doesn’t get phased by things.

“She is someone which all of the children and parents can go to, talk to and gets along really well with everyone.”

She received a very large trophy in the assembly yesterday (25/06) and has been invited to the Houses of Parliament for afternoon tea.

The final ceremony will be in London in October.
