The SGS Life ESOL Team

The OFSTED ‘Outstanding’ ESOL team at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is committed to empowering students both inside and outside the classroom, creating safe spaces to learn and tap into emotions, whether that’s laughter or sadness. The team provides guidance on college opportunities, including trips, activities and guest speakers, while also supporting learners at community events and celebrations. With over 60 years of combined teaching experience, the ESOL team creates a dynamic yet nurturing learning experience through innovative methods such as Escape Room challenges, interactive games and in-class yoga. It also encourages wellbeing through walking tours, art gallery visits and pantomimes. More than just educators, this team consists of highly skilled mentors and guides who build invaluable connections and instil self-confidence, enabling students to find their voices in English, share their stories and move forward in their personal and academic journeys. With unwavering support, the team ensures that every learner can embrace new opportunities and step into a brighter future.
