Victoria College opened in 2013 for six young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. It now has 30 students and an ever-increasing team of enthusiastic, talented and creative staff who ensure the students have the best experiences in a safe and engaging environment.
The Holistic Team consists of teachers, teaching assistants, nurses, a physiotherapist, a music therapist, a Speech and Language therapist, administrative staff and more, who make differences to the young people and their families. They believe in these young people: that they can achieve and have so much to offer, learning new skills and engaging in new experiences, as they prepare for adulthood, whilst ensuring their physical, medical, care and learning needs are met whilst having great fun. Activities have included organising a theatre trip consisting of two separate days of trips, medical teams on busses, and even adapting students’ personal care routines to ensure they all experienced a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
The team has been through tremendous change as it gained independence from its federation, all the while continuing to support young people with incredibly complex educational and health needs.
