The English Department

This English department is a hugely successful team whose practice has transformed the lives and
opportunities of most, if not all the children who pass through the academy. They have a real ‘can-do’
attitude coupled with boundless energy and a positive approach to trying new approaches in the
quest to tailor learning to meet the needs of all pupils including the hard to reach. “Everyone can
and will achieve” is their mantra and they certainly approach each day’s learning with this in mind.
‘‘Team English are what we and other teachers aspire to become” said one colleague, “they never let
anyone slip through the net”.
