  • The Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School (sponsored by Nord Anglia Education)
  • Southam College
  • Southam, Warwickshire

As a teacher of Biology, Susan has inspired countless students to pursue university courses and careers in the biological field. According to her colleagues, she goes above and beyond on a daily basis, and challenges and holds her students to her high standards. She nurtures and encourages all students, offering her time and energy at breaks, lunchtimes and after school to run wellbeing clubs and intervention sessions.

Sue is an integral member of the Science team and beyond, and is described by colleagues as ‘truly excpetional, supremely hardworking and inspirational and always prepared to think outside of the box’. She has brought numerous external agencies into the school to offer pupils new learning activities and often uses practical investigations and modelling to cement key biological concepts and bring Biology to life. She also contributes keenly to the wider CPD of less experienced Biology teachers.
