Shagufta Mirza

Shagufta has devoted over 25 years to transforming the lives of students, staff and families at Carlton Junior and Infant School. A passionate advocate for mental health, inclusion and cultural enrichment, she has led countless initiatives — from parent wellbeing workshops and nurture groups to Oxbridge visits and international trips. As attendance officer and designated safeguarding lead, Shagufta is unwavering in her support for vulnerable children, removing barriers and creating safe, nurturing environments. ‘Dream, Aspire, Achieve Beyond Excellence’ is the school motto, and her leadership in pupil voice, road safety and school culture continues to shape a more connected, resilient and aspirational community. Deeply respected by colleagues and adored by families, Shagufta is a guiding light whose compassion, creativity and dedication leave a lasting legacy.
