Sean has worked at the college since 2017. He is a chef lecturer with many years’ experience in the catering industry, working on cruise ships, five-star hotels and restaurants. He trains catering students for many competitions in his own time outside lessons. He even took a group to complete the 3-peak challenge, where they learned not only cooking skills, but soft skills.
He also set up a supper club, where every other month he takes students in his own time to Michelin star restaurants to experience fine dining and learn how such a restaurant is run.
He has twice secured external funding, raising £80,000 to enhance and update the College’s kitchens and restaurant. He won £17,000 in a Dragon’s Den themed competition with students, the proceeds from which helped students set up a street food business from a horse box. All profits go back into the business and to students.
During lockdown he arranged student talks with 14 leading chefs and celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and James Martin.
