Sandringham School
The Award for Outstanding School Team of the Year
St Albans, Hertfordshire
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) team’s role in the school is to promote engagement of all students in science, technology, engineering and maths. The team organises a range of STEM activities, both in school and beyond with a particular focus on encouraging girls engagement. The centre piece for the teams work this year was opportunity to speak to Tim Peake on the International Space Station (ISS). The impact the team has had on the school and community is immense. Students are talking about STEM, exploring career options and the regular STEM activities are oversubscribed. In addition the school has become a hub for best practice in STEM education and regularly hosts visitors from schools across the country to showcase the school programs and discuss best practice.
