Rachel is an admired individual who has dedicated her time at Lordswood School to supporting its children and families in many ways. Her passion for her role and the compassion she has for children is described by her colleagues as second-to-none. Rachel encounters many professionals through her role as deputy safeguarding lead, liaising with social care, Early Help, health professionals, housing departments and the police.

She is not afraid to challenge professionals to ensure the best outcome for the child. Her training as a mental health first aider has greatly benefited the pupils’ families during lockdown. She called the most vulnerable children daily, and supported staff experiencing their own anxieties. She established a food bank at school to support families most in need and undertook training to issue food bank vouchers. The impact of Rachel’s work with children over twenty five years is evident through extremely positive relationships between children, staff and parents.
