Michelle was nominated by no less than 3 of her grateful students, one of who said “Thank you to the best teacher in Clapton!” whilst another said “Not only is she an expert historian, she has taught myself and my peers many life skills which are vital for our future endeavours”.

Michelle has an exceptional talent for ensuring that all her students want to learn. Her enthusiasm for her subject is evident as soon as you walk into her classroom and her students are soon caught up and fascinated themselves. She has a way of engaging students so that, as a result, they are inspired to do well, support each other and treat those around them with compassion and sensitivity. Students trust her and often turn to her for advice and guidance. Parents and colleagues alike admire and respect her work and her results are outstanding. One quote from an Ofsted observer sums up her lessons “” I have never seen history being taught so well. It is the best history lesson I have seen in a long time.” Amongst many of the extra-curricular activities which she encourages, Debating is her particular project. She has worked hard to encourage Debating at the school and her endeavours have resulted in a Debating trip to Washing for 3 of her students. She is an exceptional and inspirational teacher, who is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for all her students and a very worthy winner of this prestigious Award.
