Michelle’s approach to conceptual and project-based learning has revolutionised how English is taught. Her vision for teaching has become standard practice for teaching in her department, and her inspiring professional development training has encouraged this approach to become embedded across the school. Her leadership skills, coupled with her passion for teaching, make her a ‘rare teacher’ and an influential colleague devoted to making English not only accessible for all students, but their favourite subject.
She has transformed the KS3 curriculum, introducing exciting, engaging, diverse, real-world units in each year group, She is enthusiastic about planning inter-disciplinary units and discussing Approaches to Learning, and frequently updates schemes of work to be more modern and relevant for students.
Her passion for teaching extends beyond the classroom where she has created and delivers whole school workshops. She has also presented at the International Baccalaureate conference, sharing her innovative ways for teaching the Middle Years Programme.
