Mairi Levack has worked as an itinerant PE teacher in the Uists for more than 26 years and has insprired generations of young people to be more active, become involved in sport and live a healthier lifestyle. As well as teaching in three primaries and one secondary school, Mairi leads an afterschool club for secondary/primary pupils on Tuesday afternoons and coaches at evening training sessions for secondary/primary pupils.
Mairi has also not let living on an island be a barrier for opportunities and actively encourages and accompanies young athletes to compete in mainland competitions. She has taught and coached a number of pupils who have gone on to achieve significant sporting success. Mairi’s legacy is one that will continue to ensure that all pupils are given the same opportunity to achieve.
