Jack Andrews
  • The Award for Outstanding New Teacher of the Year, (sponsored by the Department for Education)
  • Middlestown Primary Academy
  • Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Jack is currently in his third year of teaching, and teaches in Year 3.  He is the English leader across the whole primary school and has been in charge of the school council and shadowed the curriculum leader.  He uses a range of strategies to engage and enthuse children about their learning, including drama and IT. Colleagues report that listening to him reading a story is ‘an experience in itself’.

Jack immerses the children in their learning through practical, memorable  activities and infectious enthusiasm. He has an open mindset towards all aspects of school life and this motivates other colleagues across school. His willingness to give anything a go, and go above and beyond, ensure that he’s viewed as a fantastic role model to others and as an asset to the school.
