Fran’s keen interest in raising students’ aspirations during her NQT year led her to participate in the Building Mathematical Resilience Workgroup, run by the region’s Central Maths Hub. Her chosen areas of research were developing growth mindsets and strengthening parental engagement.
The work she completed in that time was viewed as outstanding and helped the children in her care to thrive.
Colleagues report that Fran regularly goes above and beyond their expectations of a new Class Teacher and is constantly researching and seeking new experiences for her pupils and to raise their aspirations, many of whom are from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Fran is always willing to open her classroom to visiting teachers and is regularly observed by groups of up to 20 teachers at a time. Feedback is always exceptional and the teachers leave inspired.
