John was nominated for his Award by no fewer than 6 of his grateful students one of whom said “I just want to thank you for being awesome! He has been a dedicated and passionate teacher of health and social care at Featherstone High School since 2006 and in that time has made a transformational difference to young people’s lives. But he is not only a teacher, he is also a qualified nurse and his work has been central in inspiring young people (particularly boys!) to learn about health and social care, with a view to a career in the profession. Many of John’s students face particular challenges or have special needs, yet in his class, all learners exceed expectations to achieve their potential. His energy, enthusiasm and creativity is inspirational, helping young people to grow in confidence and self- belief through his example and his exceptional teaching style. He is truly a deserving winner of this prestigious Award.
