Cheryl works for the (Sutton & Surrey) LEO Academy Trust as Director for Computing and Digital Skills, where she leads on the development of computing and digital skills education for almost 4000 pupils. She has established several new initiatives, including the Digital Leaders programme, which gets pupils to trial new software and provide feedback to teachers and helps to build their confidence. She encourages pupils to design their learning, empowering them with the creativity and independence to choose how they want to use their Chromebooks and other engaging online applications in lessons. She has also helped children to see how technology can create a global learning experience, by taking pupils on 3D virtual trips to China and running virtual Mandarin lessons with a local teacher, opportunities which otherwise would have been inaccessible.
