On Thursday 13th July, the 2017 Pearson Silver Award winners and their guests attended a tea at the House of Commons to celebrate their achievement, hosted by Alok Sharma, Housing Minister and MP for Reading West, and sponsored by Leadership Matters.

Alok Sharma said: “I have been delighted to sponsor the Pearson Teaching Awards in Parliament for the last four years. Teachers play a vital role in children’s lives and it is absolutely right that their achievements are recognised. TheTeaching Awards provide an excellent opportunity to say thank you to outstanding teachers and we all remember the ones who inspired us at school.  Good luck to the Silver Award Winners ahead of the grand final in the autumn.”

Rod Bristow, president of Pearson UK, said, “We know that great teaching is the most important thing in education and that’s why we support the Teaching Awards.”A number of winners’ MPs were also in attendance and some winners were given a tour of Parliament.

In addition to a silver Plato lapel pin, winners received a copy of Leadership Matters, written by leadership expert Andy Buck, in a Pearson Teaching Awards goody bag.
