So well deserved!!!
Well done Mr Evans. You probably don't remember me, i was the un-confident small little midfielder in the early 90's. You gave me confidence to play freely and i eventually went on to play semi-pro footy!! Thanks. And by the way...you still look the same as you did in the 90's!!!

Champion!
Well done Vince. Good to see one of the best get recognised for their achievements. Really enjoyed the girls rugby team that started in late 80's/early 90's - you inspired me to go on and play more. Thank you & congratulations!

Well done sir...errr...I mean Vince
That's fantastic news. Speaking as someone who was pretty rubbish at sports when I was at JTHS in the late 80's early 90's, you were really encouraging. As long as someone was willing to try, you were willing to give them your time. Thank you.

Really chuffed to hear you got this. I wasn't brilliant at sport but I always enjoyed at it JT and reckon that's why I still play loads of different sports now. You truly deserve this accolade.

The Most Influential Teaching I have Ever Had!
Vince,
I know I came from a good crop with all the greats including Gray, Newman, Buckman, Rae, Challoner, Shum and of course myself Johnson!! But I believe that we wouldn't have achieved anywhere near as much as we have without your guidance and motivation! Of course your 2 wingmen at the time Blake and Taylor were fantastic support but we all knew where the real talent lie!!!
Congratulations on your award it is most certainly deserved!!!
I hope you remain on the village scene for years to come!

We are sorry for those students who will not now experience the 'Vince Evans factor' in their lives.
Good luck and best wishes for your future.

An Inspiration
Vince, i remember when i first joined John Taylor; i was unfit, fat and didn't play any sport. Until i met you. Right from my first day i remember how encouraging you were; no matter how sportingly talented anyone was, everyone was equal in your eyes. You always put just as much effort into helping the less sportingly-talented people than the superstar sportsmen! Your enthusiasm for PE has helped so many people achieve in sport in the past, and that has to be commended. Even me (the short fat lad in year 7) is playing badminton for Staffs- all because of your dedication to your job, and passion for helping people.
Even when he's not teaching, Vince puts a smile on my face. Just walking through the corridoors you can see what a respected teacher he is- everyone says hello to him!
Anyone who has sat in Vince's theory lessons can see what a passion he has for the subject he teaches, he walks about the classroom, jumping up and down; doing anything he can to try and get you to understand. Before you know it the lessons ended, and we all have to leave and go back to the 'boring' lessons!
As you can tell i could talk about Vince for hours, and happily receit hundreds of stories about him from over my past few years at John Taylor.
Well done Vince, you deserve this award more than anyone could possibly imagine, i can't see how anyone could show more dedication that you have in the past.
Good luck in your retirement, and thankyou for everything you have done for me.

Vince, I can only reiterate what Stuart said. You were an inspiration to us all, and from personal experience you most certainly brought out the best in me. If it weren't for you I would never have travelled and far and wide as I have with rugby, and I wouldn't be doing the job I am now! Many congratulations. It means a massive amount to finally see your hard work and effort recognised by others, not just the hundreds of children who were lucky enough to have you.

My best memories of school were on the sports field and it was thanks to you and Miss Slater (remember driving the basketball team to Heathrow?). I'm so pleased you've had the recognition you deserve and I can't quite believe you're at retirement age, you look the same! Hope to catch up with you and the sports team at the reunion. Good luck for the big 'un!

Vince, fantastic news! Huge congratulations for winning this award and the recognition that comes with it. The memory of your legendary shout of 'It's there!' whilst performing an over exaggerated forward defence shot with an imaginary bat in the sports hall never fails to amuse me.

Howzat!!!
Brilliant Vince and so well deserved, great to see it wasn’t just the Coleman’s that appreciated the hard work you put into your teaching and bringing fun to all you do. More than that, you taught Rod and Stuart the importance of enthusiasm – it’s infectious. Who else would I have left my son with when we had to move on from Barton? Thanks to you and Helen for looking after Rod so well. Good luck in London.

Good Job Vince
Dear Vince, You are already a winner with us and we have watched with amazement and enormous respect as you maintained your energy and enthusiasm for your vocation year after year. Some say you could have been an England wicket-keeper batsman a la Godfrey Evans, but you always wanted to teach, and by doing so enabled hundreds of children to 'enjoy the game' for the sake of it. It will be good watching others appreciate who you are and what you have meant to so many. We wish you well for the finals, but knowing how little you think of winning, we expect to see you enjoying a great game in front of the biggest crowd there is. No pressure! See you soon

VINCE!
Dear Mr Evans,
You know as well as I do that you are without a doubt the best teacher that John Taylor has ever had, and they probably wont get one much better than you, at teaching that is, your singing was never your strongest point. We still enjoyed it though. As you know I have been out of the country for many months, this is why I am only just posting this comment of congratulations on your page. Well done Vince, you really did deserve the award, and should have won the big one! The fact that you didnt was an outrage! I am hoping that we can play golf someday, because I really dont believe that you are as good as you say you are. I am awful, so you can teach me! Again!
Well done sir,
From Elliot and the rest of the Humble family.
