Recipero

Having recently acquired Ik Software, Recipero continues the work started in 2000 by Ik to provide every school in the United Kingdom the opportunity to build and maintain a website free of charge. Hundreds of thousands of school children have benefited over the years from this service but it would be for nothing without the continued support of the teaching community who so willingly give their time and energy to maintaining the school websites and involving pupils in the process.

Recipero have sponsored the provision of the Teaching Awards' website and are grateful for the opportunity to lend our support to the trust’s goal of recognising and rewarding teaching excellence. Great teachers enrich a pupil’s entire life and engender a thirst for knowledge and learning that impacts all of our lives and society as a whole. We’re immensely proud to have played a small part in the process of recognising this most worthy of professions.

BT is committed to helping everyone in the UK, understand and enjoy the benefits of improved interpersonal communication skills.  Our current programme concentrates on helping pupils in primary and secondary schools to develop their communicatin skills through a range of resources including teacher support materials, award schemes, drama performances and workshops.

The Teaching Awards is an obvious choice for BT to continue with its dedicated support to education - good communication has always been at the heart of good teaching.

This sponsorship reflects BT's long-term commitment to education.  We are now expanding the BT Education Programme to cover the f ull range of year groups in schools and to include parents and teachers.  We are especially pleased to be sponsoring the Award for Teaching of the Year in a Primary School as there is a natural link between this and our own passion for driving initiatives which support the talking, listening and discussion elements of the national curriculum.  We have already invested in children through our national programme of communications drama workshops and by supporting the Teaching Awards we are investing in education to pregare our children for the communication challenges of tomorrow.

The Innovation Unit

We are delighted to be the sponsor of the Ted Wragg Award for Lifetime Achievement.  The Innovation Unit works with policy-makers and practitioners to understand the process of innovation and how successful innovative systems work, in order to ensure that new ideas and practices that genuinely improve teaching, and make learning powerful for students, can spread easily around the system and be further refined.

Our aim is to encourage the development of an innovative, accountable education system which supports disciplined innovation wherever it has been generated. Currently we are doing this by promoting conditions in which innovation can be originated, brokering partnerships that have the potential to create solutions to learning challenges we have identified, and, in some cases, supporting local or national projects that we judge can improve learning for students.

We are working on large-scale projects such as Teachers' TV, the Leading Edge Partnership Programme and wiht the NCSL Network Learning Communities as well as a number of smaller scale projects involving groups of schools around the country.  Currently we have links with around 10% of all schools in England.

You can find out more about our work by loggin onto www.innovation-unit.co.uk if you want to discuss innovative ideas or the process of innovation generally, then join our innovation Unit online communicty. We look forward to hearing from you.

Royal Air Force

The Royal Air Force recognises the importance of education and is committed to providing initiatives which are in harmony with the national curriculum. We educate young people regarding such topics as leadership, citizenship, including self-discipline, social skills and integrity primarily through our Motivation Outreach Teams.  Our education work also extends to providing schools with GCSE maths and science resources and touring the country with our RAF Maths and Science Workshop; both of which have proven successful and popular amongst schools.

Within today's RAF we also recognise the power of education for our employees. We provide comprehensive training and the opportunity to acquire new skills and qualifications that are of value throughout life. Emphasis is placed on professional teamwork, without which it would be impossible for the RAF to contribute to the security of the United Kingdon or fulfill the vital life-saving and peacekeeping tasks placed upon it. Achievement of these tasks requires teamwork; successful teams acknowledge and value the contribution of each individual.

Many of the qualities we value - leadership, determination, commitment, sense of purpose, self-discipline and teamwork - are evident in both nominees and Teaching Award winners.  We applaud the achievements of all those nominated and are proud to be a sponsor of the Teaching Awards.
