OUP book winners

Five more schools have won £1,000 of books from Oxford University Press after having a member of staff nominated for a Teaching Award.

All those who nominated a teacher, teaching assistant, headteacher, governor or sustainable school for the 2007 Teaching Awards were entered in a free prize draw. Ten winning schools have been celebrating - with five announced in January and five more in March.

Susan Haswell, the lucky headteacher of Ryton Junior School in Gateshead, said: "We are delighted that Xanthe Horne has been nominated for a teaching award and now this is more fantastic news.”

The other March winners were: Ramsey College, Huntingdon, Cambridge; Woodthorpe Primary, Sheffield; Ladybarn Primary, Manchester and Red Lodge Community School, Southampton.

The five winning schools in January were: Ashton Park School, Bristol; Meden School and Technology College, Mansfield, Nottingham; Notre Dame RC School, Plymouth; The Hollies School, Cardiff and Finaghy Primary, Belfast.
