Fresh from non-stop appearances for Red Nose Day last month, comedian Lenny Henry has put his infectious enthusiasm behind the Teaching Awards by appearing in a new DVD.
Lenny, who has witnessed the generosity of hundreds of schools involved in charity work, is now backing the TA message that teachers can make a huge difference to children's lives.
Our cast of supporters includes Jon Snow Channel Four newsreader, William Atkinson headteacher and deputy chairman of the national judging panel, and David Bell, permanent secretary at the Department for Education and Skills.
Two winners' schools were also visited by the DVD crew - Godwin Junior School, London where Nina Panayis was primary headteacher of the year in 2003, and King James's School, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire where Paul Keogh, head of languages, won secondary teacher of the year in 2003.
The DVD, which is currently being edited, will be ready for the first of our 13 ceremonies starting in London on June 13. Then it will be sent to every school in the country and be available to download from www.teachingawards.com
