What is the Teaching Awards process?

Here’s an outline of how the Teaching Awards works, from start to finish!

Thank a teacher

Anyone can send a thank you and we accept these all year round. Some are written messages and others are short video thank yous. Each teacher is sent a personalised thank you card with login details so they can go online and see who thanked them and what was said. Thank a teacher now…

The Teaching Awards

Each thank you is a nomination for a Teaching Award. We ask the headteacher or a senior person from the school to endorse the nomination and tell us an appropriate category for the person.

Regional Judging

In March and April, our team of expert judges sort through the thousands of entries from across our 7 regions and nations, select and visit finalists, then choose our winners. Find out who the judges are…

School Celebrations

In June we send out celebration packs to schools and our judges, trustees and patrons are on hand to help out with the celebrating…they like that.

UK Judging

From June to September, the regional and national winners then go forward to our UK judging panel.

UK Ceremony

In October, we’ve got our own telly programme on BBC2 where we announce the UK winners and present them with a gold Plato. See some of the footage here…
